Phil Northrup, President of PNS Security Consulting Inc. has over 40 years of experience in the security industry including 24 years of service in the RCMP, 7 as a general duty police officer and the remaining 17 specializing in physical and technical security. Phil’s security expertise includes security project management, electronic and mechanical access control systems, CCTV, security containers, Intrusion alarm systems, electronic eavesdropping devices, security consultation, explosive disposal and executive protection.
Phil’s public sector experience was followed up by 16 years in the private sector when Phil continued his education by obtaining a Security Management Certificate from the University of Calgary and provided security services to a private, property management, and management services corporation.
As part of Phil’s duties in the private sector he developed corporate Business Continuity and Disaster Response Plans. Phil taught the Physical Security Planning Course, part of the University of Calgary Continuing Education’s Security Management Certificate Program for five years.
Phil has been a member of ASIS International since 1998 and is a member of the RCMP Veterans Association. Phil semi-retired in 2014 and then he went on to start PNS Security Consulting Inc. where he utilizes his knowledge and experience as a Physical Security Specialist in addition to spending time with his wife and grandsons.
