The Information Access and Protection Branch in Service Alberta is responsible for the ministry’s access and privacy program as well as for Alberta’s corporate access and privacy legislation impacting private sector organizations, government and local public bodies. The work of FOIP Services spans from the very detailed operational requirements of a FOIP ministry program to support of cross-government initiatives, oversight of the FOIP Training Program, resource development and more.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate FOIP Services, you will work as a member of a team to provide policy interpretation and general guidance in relation to provincial access and privacy legislation, including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), consult with clients internally and externally, coordinate cross-department matters, identify and resolve issues, and so much more.
Your success in this position is built on expertise in access and privacy legislation combined with experience in policy development and well developed research, analytic, and writing skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills and well developed organizational and time management skills are required in order to work independently and in a team setting.
You will be called upon to develop policy, procedures, and guidelines, provide corporate advisory services, support FOIP network meetings, create presentations, and support the provincial access and privacy help desks, as well as the delivery of FOIP Act and PIPA awareness sessions.
