The Calgary Catholic School District (the “District”) is the largest Catholic school district in Alberta, serving more than 54,000 students in 109 schools located in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere and the Municipal District of Rocky View. The District is currently seeking to recruit a FOIP Coordinator. Under the direction of General Counsel, the FOIP Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring that the District is in compliance with the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act). The successful candidate will be required to administer and coordinate FOIP services for the District.
Candidates must be members in good standing with the Privacy & Access Council of Canada, hold a university degree or college diploma in Business, Project Management, Law, or a related discipline, an Information Access and Privacy Certificate from the University of Alberta, and ideally, will have three to five years of practical experience interpreting and applying the FOIP Act or similar legislation. Experience in public sector organizations and in particular, educational institutions involving privacy law would be an asset. Strong written and oral communication, collaborative decision-making, task-prioritization skills, analytical and research skills, sound professional judgment and ability to meet tight timelines in a fast-paced work environment are required.
