The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is an independent civilian-led agency with jurisdiction to investigate serious incidents involving police, including municipal police departments, the RCMP, and Special Provincial Constables. The Police Act creates the IIO and defines its powers. The IIO reports to the Attorney General, however, investigations and decisions are operationally independent.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and independent from the Information Access Operations (IAO) unit, the Privacy and Records Analyst plays a critical role in managing the information and privacy program for the IIO and is the organization’s subject matter expert on privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and records management.
