The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for an Information Governance Manager to join our Legislative Services team. Reporting to the Director, Legislative Services, you will manage, implement and maintain the Information Governance Program, comprising of the Records Management and Information and Privacy compliance Programs.
The Manager will support the growth of a strategic Information and Records Governance Framework through the establishment, implementation and maintenance of effective and efficient information management and privacy programs. This includes developing programs and related policies, procedures, and privacy controls to guide organizational compliance, support business outcomes, and manage risks as it relates to physical and digital records, information and privacy. As well, ensuring the compliance with privacy policy and legislation, leads policy and standards development; measures compliances with program policies and standards, establishes program priorities; ensures projects are completed and established goals are achieved and the program meets corporate requirements and user expectations. Additionally, this positon regulates and monitors records management focusing on retention and disposition. Liaises with the Office of the Information Privacy Commissioner of BC when reviews are requested and assists legal with providing expertise on FIPPA and reviewing files/redacting.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; possess a university degree in Library, Archival and/or Information Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, best practices, and industry standards, along with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data governance strategies, policies, and procedures. Strong understanding of records management and data privacy and protection regulation will be required. Supervisory experience, preferably in a municipal unionized environment is preferred.
