Come lead a team of professionals in the delivery of access and privacy related activities in this managerial position as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP)/Health Information Act (HIA) Coordinator at Alberta Health.
As the department lead within the FOIP Office, this position assists the ministry and its public body affiliates in complying with access to information and the protection of privacy provisions under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and the access provisions of the Health Information Act (HIA).
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Support, within the Strategic Planning and Policy Development Division, the FOIP/HIA Coordinator manages FOIP and HIA requests to the ministry and ensures effective processes are in place to assist the public in accessing information in compliance with the legislation. The FOIP/HIA Coordinator leads, coaches and develops staff within the FOIP office and manages the issues and challenges related to service delivery. The position is also responsible for ensuring department staff, at all levels, have appropriate training on matters related to privacy.

A University degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in access and privacy, preferably at the management or supervisory level. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the FOIP Act is required. Knowledge and understanding of various other access and privacy acts or regulations such as HIA, PIPIEDA, PIP, Privacy Act, and the Electronic Transaction Act are definite assets. Equivalences will be considered.
Experience in managing people as well as strong communication and leadership skills will help you succeed in this role. Experience in policy development, program delivery, and project management are definite assets.
