Reporting to the Director, Information Access & Privacy, the Senior Privacy Advisor is a subject matter expert who acts as a liaison and consultant to clinical and business areas to support and promote privacy. The Senior Privacy Advisor is responsible for leading components of and participating in the development, implementation, evaluation and evolution of a comprehensive privacy program within Providence Health Care (PHC). This includes the development of corporate policies, procedures and guidance tools to build accountable information stewardship and privacy conscious practices that enhance the delivery of quality patient care and services within a complex eHealth environment.
The Senior Privacy Advisor assists the Director by providing leadership, guidance, innovative design and coordination in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that evolve the core Information Access and Privacy Office (IAPO) operations of information access, prevention, monitoring and education. This is accomplished in alignment with privacy and information governance best practices, PHC’s strategic priorities, evolving national, provincial and local eHealth initiatives and conformance standards, policy and legislation. The Specialist represents the Director and PHC in provincial and local committees, working groups and activities.
Qualifications / Skills and Education
Education
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Science or Health Administration or related field plus five (5) years’ recent related experience in area of expertise including a minimum of three (3) years at a strategic privacy leadership level. Completion of an Information Access & Protection of Privacy program or certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) or other Canadian industry-recognized privacy certification, or evidence of continuing professional development in the area of privacy and information management an asset.
