The Information and Privacy Commissioners of Alberta and British Columbia have issued binding orders requiring Clearview AI to comply with the recommendations of February’s joint investigation (which found its non-consensual data collection of data was illegal in Canada) and to:
- Cease offering its facial recognition services in Alberta and British Columbia
- Cease the collection, use, and disclosure of images and biometric facial arrays collected from individuals in Alberta/BC
- Delete images and biometric facial arrays that have been collected from individuals in Alberta and BC that are in its possession
