Clearview AI Ordered to Comply with Alberta and BC Privacy Laws

The Information and Privacy Commissioners of Alberta and British Columbia have issued binding orders requiring Clearview AI to comply with the recommendations of February’s joint investigation (which found its non-consensual data collection of data was illegal in Canada) and to:

  • Cease offering its facial recognition services in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Cease the collection, use, and disclosure of images and biometric facial arrays collected from individuals in Alberta/BC
  • Delete images and biometric facial arrays that have been collected from individuals in Alberta and BC that are in its possession
