The Privacy & Access Council of Canada fosters the highest standards in professional conduct across the access-to-information, protection of privacy, and data protection industry.
The PACC Statement of Ethical Principles and Professional Conduct serves as the governing code for members, and outlines the key tenets that PACC members voluntarily commit to abide by as they strive, every day:
- to conduct themselves and their business activities with integrity and impartiality
- to be open, honest, and worthy of trust
- to provide high quality and reliable service, guidance, and advice
- to serve as trusted, unbiased, and objective advisors
- to exercise sound judgment
- to avoid circumstances that create real or apparent conflicts of interest
The Statement of Ethical Principles and Professional Conduct is incorporated in the National Standard of competence, providing a comprehensive description of the generally accepted levels of knowledge, skills, ethical standards and conduct that define the profession. It also provides the public, PACC members, their employers and clients with a standard against which PACC members’ conduct may be assessed and addressed.
