Student Membership
Student Membership is open to students with an interest in access, privacy, and data governance and gives you the same rights and privileges as an individual membership.
Privacy, access to information, and data governance are integral to business, technology, and government — so we encourage the participation of students studying law, public policy, government administration, library sciences, business administration, health sciences, computer science, police studies, human resources, and journalism.
To qualify for student membership you must be under 25, enrolled full time in a program that leads to an associate, baccalaureate, graduate, or post-graduate degree; and must not be employed in a privacy, access, or compliance-related role. Proof of age and full-time student status is required.

All members agree to abide by the Code of Ethics, and help shape the future of the profession.
Membership FAQ
Is renewal automatic?
We do not store credit card details or do automatic renewals for memberships. Logging on to renew is your opportunity to enter current credit card details.
Besides, while we take reasonable steps to safeguard systems and information, security isn’t perfect — so we’d rather you be inconvenienced a few moments each year to renew than risk the inconvenience of having to deal with data that’s in the wind.
How can I pay for membership?
Payment can be made by Interac electronic funds transfer (EFT) or by credit card. As a non-profit organization, our preference is that you pay by bank transfer so that we don’t lose any portion of the amount to credit card processing fees.
To pay by bank e-transfer (Interac), log into your bank account; add the Privacy & Access Council of Canada as a contact or payee using email address accounts @ pacc-ccap.ca; then send the fee.
To pay by credit card, click the appropriate link on the website, or call us at 877-746-7222 and provide the credit card details.
Your order will remain ‘on hold’ until the funds have been deposited into our account (if paying by bank transfer) or we receive confirmation of credit card payment.
Will I be notified when it’s time to renew?
We will endeavor to remind you, but the responsibility to maintain valid membership and renew certification before it expires is yours — so it is important that you log into your membership account and update your contact information. If you cannot log in, your membership might have lapsed and you will have to contact us by email what is required to reinstate your membership.
What happens if I don’t renew my membership?
You will have limited access to your account.
If you have achieved PACC Professional Certification, you will be barred from using the Associate Master Access and Privacy Professional (AAPP)™️, Chartered Access and Privacy Professional (CAPP)™️, or Master Access and Privacy Professional (MAPP)™️ designation. Only people whose memberships and certifications are valid are permitted the privilege of using the conferred designation.
